Sika Rustop Rust Passivator Coating for Steel Reinforcement (1.25 kg)
When reinforcement steel inside concrete starts to corrode, patching the concrete back over it only buys time. The rust keeps spreading under the repair, the steel expands, and a few years later the same patch cracks and spalls again. The real fix is protecting the exposed steel before you recast around it. Sika Rustop from Sika India is the anti-corrosive coating made for that step, sealing the cleaned reinforcement so corrosion doesn't start up again behind the repair.
It's a cement-bound, synthetic-resin-modified two-component coating, so it bonds like a cementitious layer while carrying the resin's barrier strength. You mix the liquid part with the powder part into a brushable consistency and coat the steel in two passes. Once cured it forms an impervious film that keeps out the three things that drive rebar corrosion, which are water, chlorides and carbon dioxide. With those blocked at the surface of the steel, the corrosion has nothing to feed on.
This is why it's specified on concrete repair and rehabilitation work, especially where reinforcement has already corroded or sits with thin cover. After the rust is cleaned off, usually with Sika Rustoff-100, Rustop goes on as the protective coat before the repair mortar or fresh concrete is placed. It protects the steel and the surrounding concrete, which is what gives a structural repair the chance to last rather than fail at the same spot again.
For corrosion protection that goes on with the repair and keeps working inside the structure, Sika Rustop is the two-component anti-corrosive coating that stops treated reinforcement from rusting again.
